A little about us

We have taken our teaching knowledge and experience and brought it together with some great technology.

TREK

A little about us

As a head teacher in a Belfast primary school in Northern Ireland for 23 years, the challenge to promote a positive and inclusive school/community could not be overstated.

In this context I produced a whole school, interactive inclusion and diversity tool which has been adopted by a collective group of schools in North Belfast over the past 10 years. The aim – to encourage a positive view of difference both in and between our schools and communities. We were only able to do this with the support of the Community Relations Council in Northern Ireland, the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, Radius Housing and the Department of Education NI (Community Relations Fund).

Celebrating difference

Our Celebrating difference TREK has been used as a value based tool in schools to promote tolerance, acceptance and the spirit of “one anotherness” in our diverse communities in North Belfast.

The TREK qualities of TRUTH, RESPECT, EMPATHY and KINDNESS have been the underpinning principles in developing a model of increased understanding, acceptance and appreciation of others. This programme is at its core a fun and engaging learning tool which is always better used if possible in collaboration with other schools/community groups.
