How The Celebrating Difference TREK works

It's designed to teach and empower young children in a fun and inclusive manner, without encroaching upon teacher time and resource.

It’s all about understanding and celebrating difference

As teachers we all understand the value of feeling “part of something” and Trek has been designed to encourage participation and provide recognition for every child. We also experience diversity in many forms every day and providing our young children with an understanding of it is so very important. That’s why throughout each TREK journey, children’s positive behaviour and good deeds are showcased before eventually the TREK friends and family portrait is finally revealed.

As each TREK act/good deed is submitted, one part of each character can be revealed. However they are selected at random and create some weird and wonderful characters, much to the childrens delight. Only when the Trek target has been reached are the true identities of the family members revealed.

TREK diversity

A wonderful collection of characters

The goal is to select and build one of these “friends and family portraits”, one piece at a time. Each successful TREK act/good deed reveals another piece
until the diverse collection of characters is complete.

Adding a Trek

Adding a TREK act

If a child completes a TREK act/good deed during the school day, as a teacher you can add it to the system on their behalf from the dashboard quickly and easily.
However the beauty of Trek is that the mobile app enables children, family members or friends to record a good deed beyond the school gates. These TREK acts/good deeds are then available for you as the teacher to view in the dashboard and acknowledge using a trophy/emojie or a comment if you wish.

So TREK encourages others within the child’s group of family and friends to support their child’s efforts in a fun and engaging manner, catching those moments when not at school . Remember, You control the spread of achievement throughout the class, ensuring all children have an opportunity to shine!

Every child is partof the journey

The Trek dashboard is available for all children to view in
class. They can see their own TREK acts/good deed and those
of their classmates. Use it as a daily touchpoint for discussion!

Everyone is involved in the journey

Sharing the journey

Each child’s TREK acts/good deeds can be shared in class and also shown to friends and family. An opportunity to inspire students to show what they have done to loved ones and those beyond the school classroom.

Rewarding effort

You as the teacher can control the number of trophies/emojies awarded to students for their TREK acts/good deeds completed. Every students effort can be celebrated and acknowledged irrespective of academic ability.

A class goal

Each successful TREK act/good deed randomly reveals a family member body part. The class goal is to complete the TREK “Friends & Family Portrait”, revealing all the character parts before they are finally unjumbled to show actual people. Great fun for all!
